Compatibility has no single truth, so we never blend our sources into one mysterious number quietly. Each lens keeps its own score, its own logic and its own footnote — you decide which tradition speaks to you.
Western astrology
Each sign belongs to fire, earth, air or water. Same-element pairs share instincts; fire pairs naturally with air and earth with water, while crossed pairs (like fire and water) pull in opposite directions. This is the oldest layer of Western sign compatibility.
Aspect astrology
We measure the angle between your signs on the zodiac wheel. Harmonious angles — trine (120°) and sextile (60°) — read as ease; squares (90°) as friction; oppositions (180°) as magnetic contrast. Astrologers call these aspects.
Classical psychology
The Greco-Roman four temperaments map onto the elements: fire → choleric, air → sanguine, water → phlegmatic, earth → melancholic. We score the pairing of humors the way classical typology did: complementary energies balance, identical ones amplify.
Pythagorean numerology
Each sign carries its number on the wheel (Aries 1 … Pisces 12). We add both numbers and reduce the sum to a single digit — the union number — keeping master numbers 11 and 22. The union number describes what the pair builds together.
